TRIO serves a specific number of students each year in both programs. Review the following requirements to see if you are eligible for the program.

Missouri State Students

To be eligible for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS), you must be a current Missouri State student, be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the federal government: Federal TRIO Programs Low-Income Levels.
    • If you have a Pell Grant, then you are likely to be eligible.
  • Be a first-generation college student (neither parent graduated with a bachelor's degree).
  • Have a documented learning or physical disability.

High school Students

To be eligible for TRIO Upward Bound (UB), you must be attending either Central, Hillcrest, or Parkview high school in the Springfield Public Schools district, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and meet the following criteria:

  • Be in 9-12th grade.
  • Have a desire to succeed in high school and go on to college.
  • Be a first-generation college student (neither parent has graduated with a bachelor's degree) OR demonstrate financial need as determined by the federal government: Federal TRIO Programs Low-Income Levels.
