Meet the staff


Karen Grosso, Assistant Director - Interim Director


Karen Grosso is the Assistant Director of the TRIO Student Support Services Program.  She is also the coordinator for the tutoring program, supervisor of the scholarship and graduate school programs, a member of the MSU judicial panel, and a graduate of the University Ambassadors program for 2013/2014. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Columbia College and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Missouri State University. She is also a master advisor as well as a member of MOKANEE, MAEOPP, MACADA and NACADA.  Karen has been an academic advisor at MSU for the past 13 years and has been with TRIO since January 2010.

Karen grew up in the Chicago area but has lived in Springfield for the past 15 years. She has three grown children; a daughter in Ozark and two sons and two grandsons in Texas.  For fun and in her spare time she likes to ride on the back of her husband’s Goldwing motorcycle, swimming, boating, water aerobics, walking, camping, traveling, visiting family, reading, personal counseling, and Bears athletics.

One thing that people probably don't know about Karen is that she is also a certified handwriting analyst. 


 Jennifer Kemp, Graduate Assistant 


Jennifer (Jen) Kemp is the Graduate Assistant for TRIO Student Support Services for the 2016-2017 academic year. Jen is currently pursuing her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling here at Missouri State University after graduating from MSU with an undergraduate double major in Psychology and Gerontology. She is a first generation college student with a passion for learning!


Jen was born in Scotland, UK but grew up in Saint Charles, Missouri. She came to Springfield to pursue her professional degree and hopes to relocate after her graduation from the Master's program to somewhere hot and sunny year round. For fun, Jen enjoys running, hiking, trying new foods, reading crime novels, playing with her two cats, spending time with her family and her boyfriend, and watching documentaries!
